Once inside the Cancun airport terminal you’ll see lines for immigration. If you’re arriving on the weekend you’ll find the lines longer.

No matter how long your line is, it’s time to relax and change to Mexican time. Even if you get through quickly, you’ll still have to wait for your luggage.

The money exchange rate at the Cancun airport is not good. Instead, take your ATM card or cash to a bank or a “Casa de Cambio” (private moneychanger) when you get to your destination.

The visitors information booth is located at the main entrance to the Terminal 2 building. The terminal facilities are generally open 9:00am to 9:00pm. You’ll find fast food outlets, restaurants, gift shops, ATMs, and mail boxes. Some shops and one restaurant are open 24 hours.

Buses to Playa del Carmen depart every hour; and cost $7.00 for the hour ride. There’s no public Cancun bus service from the airport, however, taxis and shuttles are plentiful.

Executive, Hertz, Thrifty, Alamo, Budget, Avis, and National provide Cancun car rentals from the terminal.
